Count
This piece is based on ideas of controlling, heal, or otherwise dealing with feeling "out of control" specifically inspired by the Pentagon's advice to soldiers with posttraumatic stress disorder. While it is commonly believed there is no “cure”, there are numerous ways to deal with making it more controllable. The Pentagon’s official advice to Iraq war soldiers and vets suffering from PTSD was to take a deep breath and count to 10. The ribbon and its circular path of numbers reflect the futile idea that simply counting can address this issue.
